Ayurveda for The Full-Bloom Years
June 29 – July 13, 2011
Valuable for practitioners and non-practitioners, this program will be personalized for each woman, dedicated to experiencing and learning Ayurvedic wisdom for the middle years – our best years! – our 40′s, 50′s and 60′s.
During this time, a woman’s health can be vital and strong–she can enjoy life in full bloom–or she may fall into suffering a variety of symptoms, some the first manifestations of potentially serious or chronic health issues.
A crucial time for correcting common imbalances in the digestion and metabolism, to detoxify and rejuvenate the deeper tissues to support a strong and stable mind and body, and to taste the joy of living in harmony with one’s own true nature, as we prepare ourselves and our female patients for the years of deep wisdom and joy that lie ahead.
Join this small group – at a special low trip fee – for a full immersion in Ayurvedic living in Kerala, while exploring the value of traditional internal medicines and external therapies, Taste is Healing Ayurvedic nutrition, and specific yoga, meditation, vocal, breathing and spiritual practices to support and strengthen women in their prime.
You’ll enjoy private time for self-reflection, connecting with other women, increasing your Ayurvedic knowledge and confidence, and vitalizing your practice of Ayurveda for women’s health and happiness–especially your own!
Highlights of this immersion internship include:
- Receiving personal Ayurvedic diagnosis, traditional therapies and herbal medicines for your specific needs
- Learning to prepare for and perform traditional Ayurveda therapies for care of self and others, such as self-abhyangam, head massage, nasyam, elakizhi and shirovasti.
- Observing and discussing actual cases (intake, treatment planning of external therapies and internal medicines and observation of treatment results).
- Discovering the power of a stable mind state in the midst of life’s changes, and how to cultivate this in ourselves and those we hope to help.
- Immersion in the living materia medica, the botanical wealth that is the root of traditional Ayurveda in Kerala. Make medicines for internal use and healing oils for external use in the traditional way–from fresh ingredients, by hand, with a special emphasis on botanical medicines most likely to be helpful during a women’s full bloom years.
- Enjoying our ‘Taste is Healing” cooking classes. You’ll taste, heal and learn the basics of Ayurvedic cuisine, with a special emphasis on nutrition during treatment and support for menopause and peri-menopause
- Giving your presence and support toward sustaining living Ayurveda and her native plant medicine by connecting with local Malayalee women through The Muthashi Project.
- Slowing down for personal quiet time, study and reflection, and having the opportunity to connect with other women who share your interest in living a healthy, happy life and helping others through Ayurveda.
